ISG Coaching Model

A Learning Coach fills a conglomeration of roles including “resource provider, data coach, curriculum specialist, instructional specialist, mentor, classroom supporter, learning facilitator, school leader, change catalyst, and learner” (Killion & Harrison, 2006). ISG prides itself on its student-centered coaching model, defined below via our one-page coaching overview and detailed coaching handbook developed during the 2015-16 school year by Robin Montgomery (DHS), Sandra Paetkau (DBGS), and Ian Nixon (DEMS).

Learning coaches are essential in building innovative schools, creating a culture of collaboration and transforming practice. First and foremost, coaches are change agents, able to support school and teacher growth. Ultimately, our aim is to enrich and support student learning.
