October Update

The Learning Office is excited to announce the following updates and information about upcoming Professional Learning opportunities here at ISG:

Thank you again to all the presenters and attendees at the August 2018 Convocation and Compassion Summit!  The day was a great success to focus more on our mission and goal to inspire compassionate action.  If you’d like to access resources from the workshop sessions, you can find them here on Google Drive.

You may have noticed over the past few weeks some changes to the ISG Learns website, along with updates to the other ISG district and school websites.  The ISG Learns site is your one stop shop for information about upcoming professional learning opportunities and curricular resources.  Expect more information and communication to be added over the coming weeks, and check the Professional Learning Calendar often for new opportunities.  At the bottom of the website, you can subscribe to the ISG Learns Blog and/or a new News & Events feed if you’d like to receive updates like this one on news and events from the Learning Office.

Our next district-wide ISG Learns day will take place on Thursday, November 8th.  The full program and sign-up form will be distributed on October 22. In the meantime, you can view up-to-date information on the sessions to be offered at the ISG Learns website Resource Center.

Teachers can submit proposals here for the ISG Mini-NESA presentations during November ISG Learns.  This is an application process to present at the NESA Spring Educators Conference in Bangkok, Thailand.  Check your email inbox for additional details sent this week from Eric Brown.

The Learning Office is hosting slow Twitter chats across the year to discuss our Mission, Assessment Beliefs, Profile of Graduates, and Core Values.  The first one will take place on Tuesday, October 9th on the ISG Mission - We inspire innovation and compassionate action.

The Google Summit has been rescheduled to March 7th-8th, 2019.  More information about the student Tech Expo, presentations, and workshops coming soon.

Our School Improvement process is well underway at each school and through the district teams-- please read an update on the work and successes of your colleagues here, and visit the School Improvement Website for more information.

Finally, the Learning Office is caretaking visits for several consultants to support teachers in the following areas:

  • Ron LaLonde spent two days in September with our Professional Learning Task Force and Instructional Leadership Team to continue work on the ISG Standards for Professional Practice that the group developed last year, and to continue exploring systems for personal growth and professional evaluation.

  • Eva Cartwright will be working with Teaching Assistants at DBGS, DEMS, ISG Dammam and ISG Jubail across the first two weeks in October.

  • In November, Paul Andersen will return to work with all ISG schools concerning NGSS, unit planning, and questioning in science.

The Learning Office is planning to visit faculty meetings at each school in the coming weeks to share more information about our mission to lead learning and provide support, and the types of communications and events you can expect in the 2018-19 school year.
