Updates from the Learning Office - November Edition

28 November 2019

The November ISG Learns at ISG Dammam was a huge success.  We’d like to take a minute to once again thank everyone who made this event successful.  A special thanks goes to Jonathan Acker and his staff for warmly welcoming us to ISG Dammam and making it all possible.

External consultant Cheryl Brown from the International School Counselor Association (ISCA) has been working with all of our ISG counselors on the ISCA standards, program goal setting and best practices for supporting our students across our schools.

External consultant Eva Cartwright from the Teaching Assistant College is here at ISG this week and next working with empowering our teaching assistants in the classroom.  This is Eva’s third visit to ISG, and her work has been transformational for our teachers.

Coaching consultant Steve Barkley continues to work with our leadership on developing a coaching culture among our administrators and middle leaders. All ISG staff has had the opportunity to see Steve discuss how we can develop more collective efficacy in the service of our students.

Fourteen ISG teachers attended the NESA Fall Training Institute in Bahrain during November 8 - 9.  Teachers attended sessions on literacy coaching, Argument Driven Inquiry, and advanced design thinking.  Plans are being made right now to send cohorts of teachers to January’s NESA Winter Training Institute in Muscat, Oman.

Make sure to check out the full version of the ISG School Improvement Update, including revised documentation for learning walks and a useful teachers guide on student and teacher behaviors for Learner agency and Compassionate Action. It is available now on the ISG Learns News & Events page.

The Learning Office will be offering Continuous Professional Development and Job-Alike sessions during the months of December - February.  Be sure to keep an eye on ways to sign up for these sessions.
